Merry Christmas

We put our Christmas tree up this week and the cold weather has arrived.
We awoke yesterday to the sight of snow on the hills surrounding our town.

School Update
What is going on at the school? The MOR is still requiring the school to teach
the Koran. I feel it is simply a matter of time before it takes place. The man
who runs the 3 schools has signed (under duress) an agreement to allow
Islam to be taught in the schools, but is slow to actually implement it. So I
will be going to school and teaching until it is actually implemented. We have
been told that all the Americans would be pulled from the schools if the Koran
is taught here. I don’t have any kind of contract with the school so I will be
able to leave with no problems. I have been offered an opportunity to teach
English at another school so I will be able to get my visa through them if need
be. Hopefully the job will be still be open. After passing out a study guide,
one student asked, “What is the difference between Allah and God?”.
I was able to launch an explanation of how, “If we accept the payment Jesus
made for our sins, we can be pure and sinless before God and have the
assurance of eternal life.” Muslims do not get the same assurances from Allah.

God Answers Prayer
We had friends over last week. He is worried about his brother in the states and
has not heard for him in 3 years. I had looked for a current address for him while
I was in the states, but was unable to find him. We talked about ways we might
locate him and came up with the idea that we could report him as a missing person
(since even his friends in the States had not seen him). So my friend came over
and we used the Vonage phone to contact the police. They said that a unit would
go to check his home and to call back in an hour. After getting off the phone, we
prayed that God would bless our efforts to contact him. After an hour, we called
back the police and they told us they had talked to his wife and that the man we
were looking for was not in the country at this time. I thought, “Well that was a
waste” but my friend was truly happy! It was the only word he had had about his
brother in a long time. He felt he could re-turn home and tell his elderly mother
that her son was fine. It was great to see that God had blessed our efforts.

Fellowship, Shopping and Crazy Man
We all went to a city about a 3 hour drive from here. It was a good time to
meet the folks from the other two cities that have Classical Medes Schools. We
had a time of prayer, worship, a Christmas party, and shared several meals. We
had the opportunity to go shopping at a real supermarket which is similar to a
Target – just a little smaller. We got goodies like Swiss cheese and baking
chocolate. We were also treated to ‘go kart rides’. The fastest go karts I had
ever been on! I was worried that if I drifted the kart into the tires on one of
the tighter turns, I would flip it. Didn’t stop me from going pedal to the metal
though!! Sometimes missionary kids do have fun!!

Prayer requests and update on costi and Elizabeth Keenan:
Costi and Elizabeth have settled into their new home in Florida.  Here are the requests from CC Space Coast (isn’t that a cool name for a church?).

For God to show Elizabeth what to do in being over the nursery which is 0 to 3 year olds and how to run it.
Costi’s in charge of the K-7th grade, eventually he will be over the teenage youth.
For Costi to lead these kids towards Jesus, to have God’s guidance as to what to do to accomplish this great task.
For the church to be able to pay them asap, meanwhile, for God to provide.  For a job for Costi until then.
For Costi and Elizabeth to find favor with the Christians who attend CCSC.
